As Nepal is a landlocked country with no access to the sea, still Nepal is the second richest country in water resources and offers various kinds of water sporting and recreational activities for travelers. There are more than 200 lakes in Nepal with a glacier origin with the help of high-altitude mountains which gives them a stunning, vividly blue colour.

Tourism Condition of Nepal After Earthquake

In the year 2015 a dangerous magnitude earthquake stroke in the central part of Nepal , leaving  100s of dead the and old heritage places in ruins. It had destroyed many of the houses, public property and the ancient monument around the Kathmandu valley. Nepal government have appealed tourists around the world to visit Nepal and help Nepalese people to overcome their sufferings mainly. Nowhere in the city are the catastrophic effects of the quake more apparent to travellers than in Durbar Square, a UNESCO world heritage site home to an asset of ornate temples, palaces and monuments. Plinths that once held majestic temples like Maju Dega and Trailokya Mohan Narayan now stand ominously empty. Other buildings survived but were severely damaged, including towering Basantapur Durbar, famous for its nine storey’s – now down to seven. Many structures are supported by wooden planks, some cordoned off behind “danger zone” signs, while crumbled temples bear images showing them unbroken before the disaster.

It mostly affected the capital city and places around Kathmandu valley. Other and most parts of the country was left unharmed. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) has prepared the Tourism Recovery Action Plan to bring the Nepal tourism industry back on track at the earliest. Secretary of MOCTCA Suresh Man Shrestha, the action plan has been prepared to rebuild and rehabilitate cultural heritage sites, tourist areas and trekking trails damaged by the earthquake and several aftershocks. The government plans the reconstruction of damaged cultural heritages, trekking routes, hotels and home stay facilities. Despite this miserable period in Nepal’s recent history, things are definitely looking up. Wandering through the heritage sites, we found the pockets of desolation didn’t detract from Nepal’s overall impressiveness.

Is Nepal Safe to visit?

Most major trekking routes were unaffected and most travelers come to Nepal for the mountain hiking and trekking. The good news is that the majority of trails (both well-known and lesser-visited) were unharmed. The centre of the April 2015 earthquake was in Gorkha District, in Central Nepal. But the popular Annapurna region, west of Gorkha, was unaffected. Although the earthquake was felt in the city of Pokhara and around the Annapurna Himalayas, it was calculated that only 1% of trails in the region were damaged, and only 3% of lodges. So there’s no good reason not to visit this part of the Nepali Himalayas.

Hardly a few signs of the damage could be seen along the . Although international attention was drawn to the earthquake-triggered landslides that killed climbers at Everest, the damage there was not representative of the damage all over the Everest region. Even towns that were badly damaged have bounced back really soon. Khumbu is a relatively wealthy region of Nepal due to the regular stream of tourists, so local houses and services, as well as tourism infrastructure, was rebuilt quickly. For International tourists, Nepal has always been well-known for being an ideal country to explore exotic culture and history, and have thrilling adventures. Luckily, many other hot trekking areas and most of the national parks located in the western and southern Nepal in that order were exempt from this earthquake. Annapurna region, Pokhara, Chitwan National Park, Lumbini, the Upper and the Lower Dolpa, Bardiya, Illam etc is still safe to visit with stunning beauty and interesting locals and flora and fauna to explore.
