The world highest Golf Tournament in Nepal

Highest Golf Tournament to be held in Lomathang (4645m)

 

The second edition of the golf tournament is going to be held at Mustang Golf Course in Lomanthang in Mustang District, on September 30, 2023. Mustang golf course is the highest golfing course in the world and the event is being organized under the auspices of Lomanthang Rural Municipality.

36 men and four women from Pokhara, Kathmandu, Dharan, Butwal, etc., will participate in the golf competition at a height of 4,645 meters above sea level, informed Indradhara Bista, chairman of the Gandaki Province Ad Hoc Committee of the Golf Association.

The tournament will have a 3/4 handicap cap over 9 holes. Along with the men's and women's winners, prizes will be awarded for Best Gross, Closest to the Pin, Longest Drive, and Birdies. The winner of the hole-in-one in the tournament will be awarded a horse. Bista informed that the winner will get 1 lakh and a  horse.

Earlier, the Yak Golf Course at an altitude of 3,970 meters in Kupup, East Sikkim, India, set a world record of being the highest golf course. Mustang's course will set a world record when the competition is held on August 30.

Bista said that 75 percent of the work to record the feat in the Guinness Book of World Records has been completed. Preparations are being made for the participation of international golfers in the second edition. The golf club in Nepal
