Tibet Visa Information

Below is a list of rules travelers are required to follow before traveling to Tibet:
a. Tibet is an Autonomous region of China and an integral part of Chinese culture and heritage. Special permits and visas to visit Tibet are only available in selected countries including Nepal. You will have to proceed to obtain a visa for Tibet through a recognized travel and tour company that operates in Tibet.
b. You should submit a copy of your passport at least 15 days before arrival in gateway cities (Kathmandu Chengdu or any other Chinese cities). The passport should be valid for more than 6 months from the date of application.
c. Those entering Tibet via Kathmandu, Nepal, must expect 2 days of visa waiting time. Visa will only be issued in one of the working days, namely Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Applicants are required to bring 2 passport-size photos. We shall send the client the "Chinese embassy visa form" well in advance to be filled up by each client which can either sent to us by email or can be collected upon arrival.
d. Most of the trips to Tibet can be started from mainland China or the gateway city of Chengdu either via train or by air. In such a case, we request our client to obtain a Chinese visa in their home country. However, we will organize a Tibet permit and hand it over through our agent in one of the cities in China before entering the Tibet Autonomous region.

e. Chinese visa will be valid for China mainland only. Please do not bring a Chinese visa if you are entering via Tibet Autonomous region.
f. We would further supply detailed information and offer a briefing upon arrival.
