52-Day, 650 km Trek from Kathmandu -Himalaya to Pokhara
There is a moment on every long trek usually somewhere around the top of a pass, lungs burning, prayer flags snapping in the wind when you stop being a tourist and become a walker. Not a visitor passing through the Himalayas, but part of the rhythm of them.
That is the feeling Nepal Tibet Trekking Pvt. Ltd. wants to give you in Spring 2027, through the Grand Nepal Himalayan Traverse a 52-day, approximately 650 km walking journey from Kathmandu to Pokhara, and one of the most complete long-distance Himalayan trekking routes ever offered.
This is not simply an itinerary. It is the flagship journey of our Walking for Health A Small Step Toward a Healthier World initiative, built on one simple belief:
We are inviting a maximum of 20 international walkers to be part of it.
Most treks in Nepal take you through a single valley or a single circuit. The Grand Nepal Himalayan Traverse does something far more ambitious it stitches together five legendary trekking regions into one unbroken 650 km path, crossing four major Himalayan passes and reaching Annapurna Base Camp at the very end, as a grand finale rather than a starting point.
The Route: Langtang → Gosaikunda → Ganesh Himal → Gangajamuna → Manaslu → Annapurna Circuit → Poon Hill → Annapurna Base Camp → Pokhara
Along the way, you will cross:
And you will walk into Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m), surrounded on all sides by some of the highest mountains on Earth, before descending toward Pokhara to complete the journey.
Few trekkers ever get to experience all of these regions in a single lifetime, let alone a single trek. This is that rare opportunity.
Route: Kathmandu → Sundarijal → Chisapani → Kutumsang → Thadepati → Gosaikunda → Thulo Syabru → Langtang Village → Kyanjin Gompa → Syabrubesi
Your journey begins quietly, on foot, from the edge of Kathmandu Valley. Within days the trail lifts you into forested ridgelines and highland pastures, before delivering you to the sacred, ice-blue waters of Gosaikunda Lake. Ahead lies the wide, glacier-carved Langtang Valley, with time built in to acclimatize before the next stage begins.
Route: Syabrubesi → Gatlang → Parvati Kunda → Somdang → Pangsang Pass → Tipling → Sertung → Ri → Gangajamuna → Arkhet
Here the trail leaves the well-known routes behind. This is Nepal off the map remote villages, untouched forest, and communities who see very few outside visitors. It is one of the most rewarding and least commercialized sections of the entire traverse.
Route: Arkhet → Machha Khola → Jagat → Deng → Namrung → Lho → Samagaon → Samdo → Dharamsala → Larkya La → Bhimtang → Dharapani
The mountains grow serious here. You’ll walk beneath Manaslu (8,163 m), the eighth-highest mountain on Earth, through villages that still carry strong Tibetan cultural roots, before tackling the demanding Larkya La crossing a true test of preparation, patience and altitude fitness.
Route: Dharapani → Chame → Pisang → Manang → Yak Kharka → Thorong Phedi → Thorong La → Muktinath → Jomsom → Marpha → Tatopani
This is the roof of the journey. Crossing Thorong La at 5,416 m is the single greatest physical challenge of the trek and one of the most rewarding moments any trekker can experience. The descent into Muktinath, a revered pilgrimage site, and onward through the apple orchards of Marpha, offers a powerful contrast of spiritual stillness after high-altitude effort.
Route: Tatopani → Ghorepani → Poon Hill → Tadapani → Chhomrong → Bamboo → Deurali → Annapurna Base Camp → Jhinu Danda → Landruk → Dhampus → Pokhara
After six weeks of walking, the mountains give you one final gift: sunrise from Poon Hill, and then the long walk into the amphitheatre of peaks surrounding Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m). From there, the trail winds gently down through Jhinu Danda’s hot springs and quiet villages, before Pokhara and the finish line comes into view.
Modern life has quietly taken walking away from us. Long hours at desks, screens replacing sunsets, stress replacing stillness many of us go entire days without truly moving.
Walking is the simplest answer to this. It needs no equipment, no gym membership, no special skill. It only needs the will to take the first step. Through our Walking for Health campaign, we are working with schools, municipalities, and health and wellness organizations across Nepal to bring that message to life encouraging regular movement, active living, and stronger physical and mental well-being for individuals, families and communities.
The Grand Nepal Himalayan Traverse 2027 is this mission in its most powerful form: 650 kilometres, 52 days, and every single step carrying a message far beyond the trail
This journey is built for experienced, physically prepared long-distance walkers and trekkers who are ready for a serious, sustained Himalayan challenge long walking days, major elevation gain, high-altitude passes above 5,000 m, and weeks of remote mountain living.
This is not a casual sightseeing holiday. It is a genuine Himalayan expedition on foot, and it rewards those who come ready for it with an experience very few people on Earth will ever have.
We are keeping the group small and intentional:
A smaller group means a closer, more personal, more community-connected journey for you, and for the villages we pass through along the way.
With more than 27 years of experience guiding travelers through Nepal’s mountains, Nepal Tibet Trekking Pvt. Ltd. believes tourism can do more than move people from one place to another. It can create real, lasting impact.
That’s why we’ve made a formal commitment:
funding awareness activities, community walking events, and programmes that promote active, healthier living across Nepal.
Tourism creates business. Business creates opportunity. Opportunity creates social impact.
When you walk with us, you are not just crossing the Himalayas you are helping fund a healthier future for the communities who call these mountains home.
You don’t need to walk all 650 km to be part of this story. There are many ways to support the Walking for Health mission:
We don’t need to change the world in a single day. We only need to take one step and then another.
One step toward better health. One step away from a sedentary life. One step toward a stronger community. One step, together, toward a healthier world.
