Ghale gaun is one of the famous models of village-based tourism centres. Ghale gaun is the home of the Ghale, who belong to the Gurung communities. Ghale gaun trekking will allow you to learn about the Gurung culture and lifestyle.
The village is located at an altitude of 2100m in western Nepal on the way to Pokhara. In Ghale Gaun, you will be welcomed with traditional hospitality. Accommodation will be arranged within the houses of local families, and the entire arrangement is managed by the local tourism committee. During your stay, enjoy local cuisine and take part in local people’s day-to-day activities like harvesting, milking cows, working in the fields, and helping cook food.
Local songs and dances will also be presented by locals for the entertainment of the guests. From Ghale Gaun, you can view the majestic Himalayan ranges, including Annapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna II (7,993m), Annapurna IV (7,525m), Lamjung Himal, Machhapuchhre (6,993), Himalchuli (6,747m), Bouddha Himal (6,974m), and many smaller peaks. You will also have plenty of wildlife to observe during your visit to Ghale Gaun.
The village is also famous for ancient Honey-hunting techniques. Enjoy watching locals’ impressive feat of climbing cliffs that are 300 meters high using bamboo ladders and hemp ropes, and collecting honey.
